Harriet Jane

I grew up on a beautiful coastal Tasmanian farm and moved to Byron Bay 25 years ago. A decade was spent curating a store in Byron, using some local production, supporting other local designers and manufacturing in Bali. After taking a break I had new inspiration, to combine my love of nature, photography and fashion.
The unique concept of ‘Harriet Jane’ the label sprung to life in 2012.
A label that showcases the beauty and vibrant hues of nature, my photographic nature prints came to life on the different textured natural fabrics. At the time it was completely organic and innovative, digital printing was the new frontier to explore, its ease at colliding art and fashion was exciting.
But that was only half of the story. For me it was imperative to have a production process that was committed to the environment. Armed with a fashion diploma, I established my own in-house production on the hills of Byron, giving rise to the Harriet Jane design and manufacturing studio. While the journey to Australian-made had its challenges, it is now flourishing and supporting other local creative women.
