Marianne Lethbridge and Edward Murray are the owners and operators of this family-run business, which they started in 2007 after retiring from teaching careers in a busy urban lifestyle. They found a pleasing work/life balance in the rural hinterland of Childers, close enough to Brisbane and the Bundaberg region.
Using organic principles and practices, they transformed a hobby farm into a beautiful property with a European heritage charm. They have created not only a vineyard but an orchard and several landscaped gardens, where you can enjoy the outdoor lifestyle, relax, and explore.
Our organic vineyard is comprised of six acres of established vines, planted in 2000 by the previous owner. We grow five varieties of grape – Marsanne, Verdelho, Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot. Our grapes are harvested annually so that they can be lovingly crafted into our exclusive range of wines.
Our white wines are made using Marsanne or Verdelho grapes, and we are renowned for our famous sparkling Verdelho. We blend these with red grape varieties to produce both a still and a sparkling rose. Our red wines are crafted using our Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet grapes, either alone or blended. We also produce two fortified wines. Our bottles can be tasted at our cellar door and purchased directly. They can also be ordered and purchased online.
At Vintner’s Secret Winery, you can also indulge in cellar door wine tastings and purchase our wines, visit our Cafe and gourmet and gift shop, or book a private function in one of our scenic spots. The kids will love our heritage games area and friendly farm animals, which can be petted.
