For us, establishing Arden Retreat has been about creating both a fabulous experience for our guests and building the life we dream of for our family.
We moved from Hobart in 2018, seeking space and the lifestyle it provides: a productive vegie garden, menagerie of animals, a big shed (!), a bush playground for kids and adults, and the opportunity to share this lifestyle with others in the establishment of Arden Retreat. It sure has been an adventure! And the years have passed all too quickly. But the launch of The Croft is a milestone and gives us the confidence to keep going.
Another cabin will follow. Along with a woodfired hot tub day retreat. Keep an eye out during 2024. Arden will remain small scale to preserve the experience for both you and us.
Although only 5 minutes from the village of Richmond, and 30 minutes from Hobart, The Croft encourages disconnection and stillness, contrasting the constant hubbub of the day to day.
Set amongst Peppermint and Blue Gums, The Croft is thoughtfully curated so you can make the most of the private and natural surrounds. Whether it be lazy mornings in the king bed, where block out blinds will ensure you are not up with the sun; soaking up the outdoors in the woodfired hot tub; lounging in your bubble bath; or curled up with a book in the sun drenched day bed – your relaxation may be just what dreams are made of.
Or experience The Croft with your family. Instead of basking in the stillness, fill it with play, stories and laughter. The wide open spaces are yours to explore. Play old school games, toast marshmallows on the outdoor fire, and go spotlighting at dusk.
Breakfast provisions, including eggs from our chickens and homemade jams, are provided along with other essentials. A selection of meals, local produce and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. If you wish to stay put, all your needs are catered for.
If you choose to venture out, to wine, dine or explore the village of Richmond and Coal River Valley region, you will find a range of experiences for all ages and interests.
