designedmade inc is a not-for-profit group based in Hobart providing members with a platform to showcase their work and network with other designers and organisations.
Its mission is to inspire, connect and represent Tasmanian designers.
The aims of designedmade inc. are to encourage and develop initiative in relation to:
- Increase public awareness
- Innovative practice
- Co-operation and communication between designers
- Professionalism and best practice
- Increase work opportunities
- Design Education
- Professional Development
The group was established in Tasmania in 1995 by a group of furniture designers and designer-makers, mostly graduates from the Furniture Design program at the University of Tasmania, and was formerly known as the furniture designers association. Over the last 20 years the group has evolved and now includes members working in a range of practices including jewellery, ceramics, printmaking, textiles as well as furniture and wood. In 2015 the name was changed to better reflect the membership.
designedmade inc provides a network and information service to its members and supports marketing of products and design services, through co-operative ventures such as designed; made showcasing, exhibitions and other projects.
