Made in the Monaro has been operating for over three years and is constantly expanding its range of products and lessons. The organisation was set up by a group of mainly women how enjoy doing things with their hands and have lots of skill and value to share.
All the members are volunteers to the shop that is currently operating to remain sustainable but will be donating money to the community once it becomes feasible.
What began as about a dozen people donating their time and skills has now become a flourishing group of just over 40 volunteers.
Aims of the shop is to utilise the different skills to create a range of unique products and lessons for the community.
The shop which can be found nestled in a quaint shop front at 76 Vale Street, Cooma stock an incredibly vast range of products all made locally by local people and where possible with local materials.
Our range includes jewellery, pottery, homewares, toys, professional spun wool grown local, baby clothes and accessories, winter woolies, clothes, quilts, cards, and candles.
The shop takes orders in almost anything craft related.
Lessons from skilled crafters are available in the shop, crochet, spinning, knitting, weaving, and card making.
The shop is also used as a meeting hub of like minded and interested individual in a fun and friendly environment and is strongly becoming an important cultural aspect of the wider Monaro region and it’s community.
